We ❤ Taro Hirano

We ❤ Taro Hirano

We recently came across a really beautiful photo series by the artist Taro Hirano, entitled Pool. It's a very moving series based around abandoned, empty, and dilapidated pools, that makes you feel, as they say in modern nomenclature, some type of way. There is something about pools that symbolize a kind of accessible opulence, happiness and even youth that when you look at them empty and overgrown it is almost spiritual. The Japanese have a term for this feeling, Mono no aware. The best way to describe this is a feeling of gentle sadness associated with the impermanence of things. If you've ever been to the Salton Sea in Southern California, CA you have experienced it. Taro captures this moment on film and allows you to be there and take it all in. This is why We ❤ Taro Hirano!

To get a hold of this series in coffee table book form we found some sellers on Amazon here, and he links to Amazon.jp on his site which might actually benefit him more directly here, if you can figure out how to work that          ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
