THE INSPIRATION
Black Widow is drawn from the femme fatale, old Hollywood glamour, gothic romance, and the seductive mystery of the dark. Smoky rooms, black lace, silver, velvet, beautiful women with dangerous intentions. Elegant, mysterious, a little wicked.
The spider web felt like a natural extension of the Harveys story. Weaving has been part of Harveys from the beginning, and here it becomes something almost romantic: an intricate web that is delicate to look at, but strong enough to hold its prey.
Black Widow lives in that tension between seduction and danger, romance and darkness, beauty and the macabre.

THE MATERIAL
The inspiration itself became a part of the material we used. The spiderweb is woven directly into the seatbelt.
Real silver lurex thread is woven through the black seatbelt webbing to create a delicate spider web pattern. The silver is vaporized directly onto the thread, giving it a subtle metallic shimmer that catches the light.
A little bit of magic hidden inside something strong. We wanted to create something that felt real, like jewelry rather than simple embroidery

We want to leave you with this poem:
The Spider and the Ghost of the Fly
By Vachel Lindsay
Once I loved a spider
When I was born a fly,
A velvet-footed spider
With a gown of rainbow-dye.
She ate my wings and gloated.
She bound me with a hair.
She drove me to her parlor
Above her winding stair.
To educate young spiders
She took me all apart.
My ghost came back to haunt her.
I saw her eat my heart.
Catch the collection in your web before it crawls away…Eat your heart out.
