HAREYS x Hot Wheels: Where Car Culture Meets the Seatbelt Bag

HAREYS x Hot Wheels: Where Car Culture Meets the Seatbelt Bag

HARVEYS x Hot Wheels

For decades, car culture has been part of our DNA. After all, HARVEYS started with a simple idea: turning automotive seatbelts into something unexpected. What began in a garage grew into a brand built around the same things that fuel car enthusiasts, craftsmanship, design, and a love for the culture surrounding the road.

That’s why collaborating with Hot Wheels felt like such a natural fit.

This collection celebrates the shared spirit between our brands: a passion for cars, attention to detail, and the joy of collecting something special.

Designing the Collection

One of the first details we knew we wanted to incorporate into the collection was checkerboard. If you look closely, you’ll find it woven throughout the designs, from the lining to subtle accents across the bags.

Checkerboard patterns are iconic in racing culture, instantly evoking the checkered flag that signals victory at the finish line. But for us, it also serves another purpose. The pattern is a quiet nod to our signature seatbelt weave. Just like the interlocking squares of a checkerboard, our bags are built from strips of seatbelt material carefully woven together by hand. It felt like the perfect visual bridge between racing heritage and the craftsmanship that defines HARVEYS.

Another design element we were excited to explore was the print itself. We used photoreal Hot Wheels toy cars in a repeating pattern across the seatbelt material. That meant carefully selecting which vehicles to feature, looking for the right mix of classic Hot Wheels favorites and visually striking cars that would translate beautifully into the design. Because Hot Wheels cars are instantly recognizable to collectors and enthusiasts, we wanted the print to feel like a tabletop full of cars ready for a race. The photoreal approach keeps the cars feeling authentic, almost like you could reach out and pick one up.

And since collectors know that presentation is part of the fun, we carried that idea into the accessories.

Our billfold wallets will come packaged in toy-style blister packs, inspired by the iconic packaging Hot Wheels cars come in. It’s a playful nod to the collector experience, turning the wallet into something that feels like it could hang on a toy store peg, just waiting to be added to your collection.

Back to the Grand Prix

Car culture isn’t just something we reference in our designs, it’s something we’ve always been part of. So we’re especially excited to be returning to the Long Beach Grand Prix with a HARVEYS pop-up shop after many years away.

The Grand Prix has long been one of Southern California’s most iconic racing events, bringing together fans, collectors, and car enthusiasts from all over. Being back there feels like coming home.

You’ll be able to shop the HARVEYS x Hot Wheels collection in person at our pop-up during the race weekend.

Location: Long Beach Grand Prix
Dates: April 17th-19th

A Natural Connection to Car Culture

From the beginning, HARVEYS has always been tied to the automotive world. Our bags are made from actual automotive seatbelt material, the same type of durable webbing designed to perform inside vehicles.

That connection has always made our bags resonate with people who love cars, motorcycles, racing, and the design language that surrounds them. Working with Hot Wheels allowed us to celebrate that relationship in a playful way, blending nostalgia, racing culture, and the craftsmanship that defines our bags.

Tune In: Live @ 5

To celebrate the launch, we’ll also be doing a Live @ 5 to talk about the collection, the design process, and share a closer look at the bags.

Join us as we walk through the details of the collaboration, show the bags up close, and talk a little more about how this project came together.

HARVEYS x Hot Wheels™ is releasing at the Long Beach Grand Prix April 17th-April 19th. Online exclusive release is April 20th 8am PT.
