The Loop by Harveys

For Earth Day, we’re highlighting the Earth Day Collection in the Harveys Loop, our take on circular design. Each bag is made from repurposed seatbelts and lined with kapok flower fiber, a naturally renewable material, and everything is manufactured right here in California. Keeping production close to home means our materials and bags don’t have to travel across the globe before they reach you. But Loop is about more than using reclaimed or renewable materials, it’s about creating something built to stay in your life for years. To us, the most sustainable product isn’t one designed to be replaced, but one designed to last. So the Loop is special because it’s an ongoing collection that we will use to push the boundaries of sustainability but since 1997 in our garage we have always made every bag to last a lifetime.

Harveys Loop? You Mean Treecycle?

Renaming Treecycle to the Harveys Loop felt like a natural evolution, one that better reflects the full journey behind every bag. While Treecycle spoke to the idea of reuse, Loop captures something bigger: a continuous cycle of design, making, wearing, and reimagining. It’s a reflection of how we think about sustainability. It’s not as a single step. It’s an ongoing process that connects everything we do.

That cycle begins with ideas, often sparked between Melanie and Dana, concepts shaped by years of experience, curiosity, and a shared commitment to doing things thoughtfully. From there, those ideas move to our production floor, where our team brings them to life in small batches, with care in every detail.

The Loop also extends into our creative process. Working with a local photographer and shooting on natural film allows us to slow things down and stay intentional, capturing each piece in a way that feels honest and connected to our surroundings. It’s about staying rooted in our community and celebrating the people who are part of this process with us.

And the cycle continues beyond us. Each bag finds its way into the hands of someone who carries it, lives with it, and makes it their own. The way our customers use and love their bags, and the feedback they share, becomes part of that loop, inspiring Melanie and Dana as they continue to design what comes next.

Earth Day Collection releases 04/24 8am PT, Online & In-Store.

New Silhouette Alert! The Rosie Tote

Meet the Rosie Tote, a fresh new silhouette designed for life on the go. It’s the perfect in-between size, not too big, not too small, ideal for errands, with two front pockets for quick, easy access to your essentials. Inside, you’ll find a small pocket crafted from renewable kapok material, while the unlined interior keeps things lightweight and more sustainable.

Bringing back the Bucket

We’re bringing back the Bucket, an ode to our roots and the original silhouette that started it all. You all know the fan-favorite Park Hopper, which is derived from the Bucket. This OG silhouette features a non-detachable strap with a 5-panel design for added comfort and everyday ease. For Earth Day, it felt only right to revisit a classic and celebrate where we began, with a style that’s as timeless as it is functional.

Enjoy this poem by Emily Dickinson :)

Nature is What We See

"Nature" is what we see—

The Hill—the Afternoon—

Squirrel—Eclipse—the Bumble bee—

Nay—Nature is Heaven—

Nature is what we hear—

The Bobolink—the Sea—

Thunder—the Cricket—

Nay—Nature is Harmony—

Nature is what we know—

Yet have no art to say—

So impotent Our Wisdom is

To her Simplicity.
