Seatbelt Bags From a Galaxy Far, Far Away
Get ready to launch because our newest collaboration with Lucasfilm, Star Wars™ Patchwork is on the horizon! In a nod to our 25th Anniversary, we decided to create a collection that features a carefully crafted mashup of prints from the Harveys archives. To celebrate this new collection, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at our previous Star Wars collections!
Back in 2019 we teamed up with Lucasfilm to bring you our first ever Star Wars x Harveys collection. Growing up, Dana loved Star Wars and even had some of the toys and comic books! So being able to create a collection inspired by such an amazing galaxy of characters and stories was a dream come true! We worked closely with the team at Lucasfilm and created a fun and colorful print inspired by the Star Wars comics! This collection also featured bags inspired by some of our favorite Star Wars characters. Our design team went all in and was able to find the perfect silhouettes to match iconic characters like R2-D2™, Chewie™, and C-3P0™.
The next Star Wars collection was a mini drop, the Imperial Collection! For this release we were inspired to tell the story of the enemy of the Rebel Alliance, the Empire. We created a double-sided Convertible Crossbody inspired by the Death Star™. Details on this amazing bag included a TIE Fighter zipper pull and crossbody strap featuring the pill lights you see onboard Imperial ships.
Later that year we decided to explore a new direction for Star Wars and were inspired by the original Kenner toys from the 1970s and 1980s! The Harveys x Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back had a playful print featuring a whole toybox of vintage action figures. This collection featured a very special Poster Tote in honor of the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. With the original movie poster art on the front and the iconic Title Crawl on the back, this tote quickly became a fan favorite among Harveys collectors.
For Christmas in 2020, our team had some very special cargo in the factory! We created a Mini Park Hopper inspired by the newest baby in the Star Wars galaxy. The Mandalorian™ came out that year and this little green cutie had taken the world by storm! Our team pulled out all the stops to create the perfect little bag inspired by the then unnamed Grogu™.
In 2021 we created a collection inspired by Melanie’s favorite Star Wars character, Princess Leia™. The Rebel Princess collection featured a very special bag, the Lola! We brought back this older silhouette because we felt it really embodied Leia™ and her character. Melanie channeled her inner rebel princess for the photoshoot.
For the next Star Wars release we headed back to the universe of The Mandalorian to create a Poster Tote inspired by our favorite clan of two! The tote featured amazing artwork of Mando and Grogu that perfectly embodied the feeling of the show. We created fun accessories starring little Grogu in the midst of his shenanigans.
